Gower Cider Weekend 13th -14th October

This coming weekend is The Gower Heritage Centres annual Cider Festival.  The Mill produces cider from its own apples and you will be able to try over 15 other Welsh Ciders and Perry's at the event.

There's lots on offer over the weekend including a BBQ and Bar, stalls featuring local producers and live music including talented local band The Lost Tuesday Society, whose guitarist and singer just happens to be Nick's girlfriend.  You should be able to catch them about 4.15pm on the Saturday, so if you fancy a great day out then go down and support Sarah and the boys.

Hub Grub

There are many fine places to eat within a stones throw of The Bike Hub. This is a good thing.

So this week we are trying out La Parmigiana Italian Delicatessen in Duke Street and Mike was our tester. He went for a ciabatta filled with finely sliced speck ham, along with lettuce, cucumber, onion, drizzled with olive oil, all for £2.90

And the verdict? Mike highly recommends it saying it was very tasty, which is a good benchmark for other eateries in the area to try to beat.

This Sunday...

Gareth, Stewart, Mike, Jamie and I...

...set off for Brechfa to ride "Gorlech" a red route starting in the village of Abergorlech

We rode the Red graded route and amazingly the forecasted rain held off so we could ride and get dusty for a change

Its a very good route with a bit of everything thrown in, the final descent has some jumps at the top and some nice flowing singletrack further on.
Head HERE for some info about the forest and the routes nearby

Gower Bike Ride : 16th September

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru is calling on people in Swansea to get on their bikes and join the South Wales Bike Ride.

The event, which has run for over 25 years, will be held on 16th September. More than a thousand are expected to saddle up and help to raise £50,000 for the vital work of BHF Cymru. For families and beginners, the traditional and ever-popular 12 and 28 mile routes are a favourite, but if riders want to challenge themselves, they can take on the new 46 mile route that was introduced last year. The routes will take cyclists around Swansea and the Gower Peninsula in what promises to be a fun day for all the family.

Event organiser Hannah Townsend said: “We are calling on the people of Swansea to get on their bikes and sign up to this fantastic event, which is supported by Santander. It is one of the region’s most popular events and we always get great feedback. With 12, 28 and 46 mile routes to choose from, there is something for everyone, whether you are a serious cyclist or a young rider.

“I guarantee people taking part will have fun so why not sign up today and help us in the fight against Wales’ biggest killer.”

Entry is £10 for adults and £5 for children. For more information, call 0800 169 3672, email northwestwales@bhf.org.uk   or visit bhf.org.uk/southwales

X-Fest 2012

X-Fest 2012 is being held over the coming Bank Holiday weekend from 5th-7th May at SantaPod Raceway near Northampton.

There's going to be many events taking place, but ones of interest to us are the King Of Dirt and the BMX events (Lords of Dirt, Street and Park in particular)

Adam Williams is riding in the MTB and James Jones and Chad Punchard will be riding as well. James and Chad are both well known local BMX riders and good friends of the bike hub. We help them out as often as we can, and make sure they keep on riding. Good luck to them!
